The fuel filter is a component that removes solid particles from the fuel. It works as a main flow filter and is usually filled with a paper-like material. Fuel filters are located in the fuel line to the engine. There is a difference between diesel filters and petrol filters: diesel filters have a cartridge-like design with a one-sided flange, similar to an oil filter. Petrol filters are usually installed "inline" in the intake line to the fuel pump or in the injection line between the pump and injection valves, their housing is usually made of plastic or light metal sheet.
